Contraception

Contraception, also known as birth or fertility control, is a method or device used to prevent pregnancy.

There are different methods of contraception, including:

  • Combined oral contraceptive pill or progestogen-only contraceptive pill
  • Long-acting reversible contraception, such as the subcutaneous implant (hormonal) placed in the arm or intra-uterine device (IUD), which can be with copper or hormonal
  • Barrier methods, such as condoms
  • Fertility awareness (with high risk of failure)
  • Permanent contraception, such as vasectomy (for men) and tubal ligation or occlusion (for women)

Discuss with your Doctor which are your contraception options and which method is better for you.
